Phlebotomy
Phlebotomy Course Information
This is a six-week online course with mandatory on-campus skills lab days.
The clinical hours will extend beyond the classroom.
Current Tuition and Fees: $1349.00 (includes tuition, book, and supplies)
This course prepares students for entry level positions as phlebotomists in various locations,
including hospitals, clinical labs, and physician offices. With hands-on experience obtained at a
clinical partner facility, students learn to draw blood using various techniques in micro-
collection and gain experience in specimen collection, transport, reporting and recording of
patient data. Anatomy and physiology of the circulatory system is incorporated. The curriculum
prepares students to sit for the national certification exam.
Classroom Instruction and Mandatory Lab
The classroom instruction for this course will include online work that is to be completed at home on
your personal computer and mandatory on-campus skills lab days (see course schedule). Students will
be required to complete weekly coursework and assignments via Google Classroom and be present and
participate in mandatory lab activities. Skills lab days are held on the Pike-Lincoln Technical Center
campus.
The required 100 clinical hours provide students the means to accomplish the required
venipunctures in order to complete the Phlebotomy program at PLTC and seek out certification (if
desired). Students will begin clinical hours once approved by the Instructor and Program Coordinator.
Prior to beginning clinical hours, students will be required to complete and pass a urine drug screening.
Additional information will be provided by the Program Coordinator.

As required by law, all vaccinations must be current in order to attend clinical. If a student is unable to attend
clinical due to lapsed vaccinations or the lack of vaccinations, Pike-Lincoln Technical Center is not responsible for
obtaining an alternative clinical site for the student. If the vaccination requirement is not met, it may ultimately
result in the student’s failure to meet the clinical objectives of the course and dismissal from the program.
Therefore, vaccination compliance is essential to a student’s success in the program.
