Attendance

The mission of Pike-Lincoln Tech Center is to prepare each student in the proper skills and attitudes necessary for success in his/her chosen field. Employers consider regular attendance as the first step in becoming a successful employee. Because of this expectation, Pike-Lincoln Tech Center maintains an expectation similar to that of business and industry. Therefore, students are expected to maintain an attendance rate of 90% or better.

The achievement attained by any student is directly related to his/her attendance. It is extremely difficult to duplicate the instructions missed due to absences from class. In the case of high school students, missing one day of class at Pike-Lincoln is like missing 3 days at their high school due to the extended class length at Pike-Lincoln.

Workforce Investment Eligibility – The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 provides the framework for a unique national workforce preparation and employment system. It is uniquely designed to meet both the needs of the nation’s businesses and the needs of job seekers and those who want to further their careers. There are many programs and services to provide every eligible youth the necessary education and/or training that will lead to a lasting, living wage job commensurate with their abilities and goals.

Pike-Lincoln has staff available to meet with area youth to determine if they are eligible. Some of the services available are tuition assistance, on-the-job training, resume assistance, basic employment skills training and referral services.
