Course Description
Automotive Mechanics is a 2-year, highly technical program designed to prepare you with an extensive knowledge of automotive parts and their application, and entry into mechanically related occupations. High School students receive 3 credits per year, while adult students attend five hours per day and complete the curriculum in one year. In addition to training in shop skills, written and oral communications, you will learn how to operate various shop machines including the electronic analyzers, precision measuring devices, brake lathes, wheel alignment equipment, and hydraulic presses. Some occupations this class will prepare you for are transmission specialist, air conditioning specialist, small engine technician, and many more.

Personal Skills
Personal skills include making judgments and decisions as well as meeting strict standards, verbal and written communication skills, mechanical aptitude.

Salary Range
The average salary for entry-level workers in Missouri is $19,720 ($9.48/hr) to an average of $41,210 ($19.81/hr) for experienced workers. The hourly average wage in Missouri is $16.37.

It is estimated that 417 average annual job openings will be created by growth and persons leaving the labor force. Due to the large number of persons acquiring skills in this area, competition for jobs may be highly competitive, and require a high level of technological knowledge.
